Lakh (Laccifer Lacca)
Lakh (Laccifer Lacca) is reddish brown colour resin secreted by the female lac inscect (Laccifer Lacca). It is used in Ayurveda for bone fracture healing and to strengthen bones.
Studies have shown this herb to have the following actions:-
Promote fracture healing: Lakh helps in fracture healing by influencing cellular organization and activity in the bone repair phenomena. It increases the mucopolysacchride and the collagen content of the bone that stimulates the callus formation at an early stage to facilitate early bone healing.
